Anybody know if that Fillmore release was a 'limited offering', ie: will they produce more or is it sold out for good?

If no more will be made available for sale will it return to LMA or are GDP happy to cut off all future access to recordings of that run??

Just curious.

They say that they will not reprint the 10 CD box set. It was a limited offering. "Once they're gone, they're gone for good" I think it read when I pre-ordered. As for your second question, will it be back in some form at LMA?...that is a very good question. I would think not but I would love to see at least some form of recordings coming back here. Since it was a limited release, it would be a shame that others who come later into the GD collection frenzy will never get the opportunity to hear those shows. There is a 3 CD set coming that will always be available. Anyone have a definitive answer?

At the bottom of the Pre Order release I have just received for the 3 cd Fillmore and DP 36 there is a note that say's there have been some cancellations of the 10 cd box set and these are up for grabs on a first come, first served basis.
So get moving!

The Fillmore West Compilation is the best of the 10 cd set comprising material from the shows of 2-27&28, and 3-1& 2 1969 none of which are available here on the archive.
Dick's picks 36 is from the 9-21-72 Philadelpia show at the spectrum. I'd have to say that both of them belong in the serious Heads collection.
Peace and happy listening!

those fillmore shows are well in circulation amongst the deadhead community. a little searchin they can be found sure not the deads official release but still worthy versions are out there. plus i'm sure there's always someone out there willin' to make a copy of the release in a trade or there will probably be some showing up on place like e-bay for a ridiculous price....

wonder why they limited the release ?

wonder why they limited the release ?

I bet it drives up demand and they sell more of them in a short period of time. The fixed costs associated with mastering and pressing 10 hours of music get offset by the fact that they have pre-sold 10,000 copies in 2-3 months.

Whereas if they didn't limit production it might take them 2 or 3 years to sell 10,000 copies and break even with their costs, because fans would just wait till they had the funds since the discs would always be waiting for them.

They have 30+ DP releases to study trends on, looks like they wanted to try something different. :)

i somewhat agree with what you are saying ..but i am sure i have read that the dicks picks average sales for a release is around 50,000 copies . i would'nt think with all the releases they have and the ones coming out that they would be concerned with limiting a well known run of shows that most heads would want . it seems they must think that most heads already have these shows and figure only the die-hards will want the box set ?

what i heard is that all the material will in the future be available in one form or another officially. what has not been released already will be on the 3 cd set.
just not as the complete box set.

there also was a partial rerelease of the lim. editions today , due to cancelations , but they quickly sold out again.
sorry i know that doesn't help anyone now. :(
